Thanks
for stopping by our web site!
I
am happy to be serving as the sixth director of the Sioux City Gospel
Mission. The fact that I am only the sixth can give you a clue that
the Mission is very stable in its leadership. In fact, our current
board president, Dick Salem, is only our third president in the
last 33 years.
With such
stability, you can be certain that our operation in the 21st century
will look very similar to what Henry Plummer had in mind when he
founded the Mission in 1938. Meals to please, a bed for ease, and
the Gospel to these – is what you will find. At the heart
of the Mission is a Gospel service conducted each night of the year
at 7:30 pm, and another on Sundays at 11 am.
But our stable leadership
does not mean that there are never any changes at the Mission. In
fact, in the last 10 years we have seen the opening of our Women
and Children’s Shelter, the opening of our Thrift store, purchase
of adjacent property to expand our Thrift store, and creation of
a support program for our non-resident clients.
And now change is even
more incumbent upon us. The new Wesley Way construction project
will make its way right through our existing property. As a result,
we will be moving south three blocks with our operations. Much is
yet before us, including meetings with city officials, renovation
of our new thrift store and administration building, as well as
construction of a new dormitory and dining facility.
We value your support
during these times and covet your prayers. Our prayer is that each
of us would be obedient to the Word of God – for as we are,
then we can be assured that only God’s best will await us.
